Why won't my Nintendo DS AC adapter work in Hong Kong

Why won't my Nintendo DS AC adapter work in Hong Kong?
I've been in Hong Kong for a few days now, and still can't manage to get my Nintendo DS charger to work on these wall outlets, in spite of having an adapter for it. While my other electronics seem to work when plugged into the wall adapter (computer, shaver etc.), the charger for the DS doesn't seem to work. Can someone tell me why, or how to fix this? Also, if it matters, the Nintendo DS and charger are originally from Canada.

if you are going stay in hong kong longer, you can go to wan chai computer center and get an adopter or ask from hotel reception.but i don't know why its not working.probably some thing wrong with nds plug .

Is your charger a 110 v or 220? If it's not 220 and you didn't use your converter (not just an adapter), it could be you've fried the electrical system. Most computers have built in converters (I don't know about shavers), but you have to check each electrical appliance to see if they have the same converters built in. Good luck! (If it's been "fried" you'll need to get something replaced. It's been a while since this has happened to me, but it can be repaired. You'd need to take it to a gaming place or someone that can tell you what the problem is.)

Is your adapter 110 or 220VAC? Switching power adapters are often "wide input" and can handle 90-240VAC. Just check what's written on it. Also worth to mention that adapters here quite lousy and often the contact is really bad, or you have no contact at all. Move your charger around in the adapter and check if it gets power in any particular position. Or bring your charger to a shop and let them find any suitable adapter for you. They are about HK$10 per pcs.

it doesnt work because in the worls the power outlets use less energy. and in hong kong the outlets have more energy so the nitendo ds wa made for lower energy
