Hong Kong: where to live? (rent vs transportation)

Hong Kong: where to live? (rent vs transportation)?
I'm not sure which is a better option. I'll be moving to Hong Kong for work soon but I'm not sure where to live. Keep in mind that I'll probably work in Hong Kong Island, and I party, and I don't have a car. Should I: 1) live in Shatin, where the rent is cheaper, will take MTR to work and such, but will have to take like a taxi home when it's after hours (after partying). or: 2) live in Hong Kong Island, where the rent is more expensive, but is closer to everything. With the public transit expenses conversely proportional to the rent, is it still more economical to just pay a bit more in rent to live in HK island? (keep in mind... the after hours when MTR is closed)

HK island, for sure. I used to live in TST and that was okay, i took the MTR most of the times, but your right, after 2 ish, buses stop running, and the MTR fisnihes, and Taxis are the only option, and to be honest, it all adds up in cost! My friend lives in Sai Kung, way out in New territories, and she has to take 2 buses, MTR, then another bus to work.! and she hates it! Its time consuming because in traffic, and peak hour, you are stuck for ages. I recently moved to HK island where it is more expensive but its very conveinient. You can rent a small place near Aberdeen, Ap lei Chau as those places tend to be cheaper for rent, and smaller as they are not so central . There are buses that go everywhere nearby, central, causeway, stanley, it is very convienient.! HKISLAND! hope that helped

Hi, You could by a phone from anywhere in the world and use it in the Philippines. The phone itself will work anywhere but you would have to put a sim card in to use it for calls.

Total waste, because its network software wont work on american phone networks
2 :
Every phone you ever used in your entire life was made in China.
3 :
yes. but you cant go online.
4 :
if u don't know if it really works.. why do you buy it?
5 :
it should work... based on the connection but only problem u might have will be getting the converter charger
6 :
it's a little late to be askin that isn't it ???
7 :
some American phones are made from china. and yes they will work. it only takes them couple of cents to make a phone, so yes they can make another cent put a program in it and it will work find in usa.
8 :
i'm not sure but it should work usually if you but it from hong kong on EBAY! it won't do that good i think
9 :
If its unlocked yes. Or you could unlock it urself But if its 3G the 3G might not work in the U.S
10 :
Now is a great time to ask that question, by the way, are you interested in some ocean front property in central Minnesota??
11 :
it should work as long as you set up the phone with your carrier. however it will not work if you bought some funky brand phone and you dont have that company as a carrier.
12 :
IF it is an unlocked triband or quadband gsm phone , you should be able to use any tmobile or att sim and it should work fine. If it is a dualband and only has 900/1800mhz, send it back. It is useless in the-USA, we only use 850/1900mhz, totally different frequencies.

I want to work as a female impersonator in Hong Kong. Will my lifestyle choices scare people

I want to work as a female impersonator in Hong Kong. Will my lifestyle choices scare people?
I weigh 300 pounds and like to wear tight dresses. Is Hong Kong ready for that?

Well, I know it's common in Japan...

The late Lydia Shum or known as Fei Fei (Fat, Fat) weighed 250 lbs and was a big hit in HK. It's not so much about the weight and appearance, rather the fate, luck and the manager working behind that are more important in turning anybody into a hit, as in any entertainment business around the world. It's also better to master the Cantonese language otherwise your audience will be quite limited. Try approaching the "Father of Lan Kwai Fong", have forgotten his name, he owns many restaurants in Lan Kwai Fong. He's orignially from Canada and is currently the Chairman of the Ocean Park. Good Luck! Elena S below, apparently the work ethics and people's behaviors, mentality are extremely different between Hong Kong and the mainland.

if you handle it correctly, it won't... with good guanxi and appropriate cover you can do anything in China... i came from Ukraine to seek a job in Shanghai... i found that prostitution is banned in China... lot of Ukranian girls have found innovative techniques... open a front operation... job as translator, in massage parlors... be innovative, develop guanxi and you will be fine... :D

Thailand is the place for you. Lots of Chinese go there for that kind of stuff. Just don't say that you are a male it be bad for your business.

I know this is not really what you're asking, but I second the response of the answerer above. Thailand is a great place for female impersonators. They have them in all shapes and sizes. There's several "ladyboy" shows that perform every night for tourists... and they have performers of all sizes.
