if you're on a tourist visa, then all you can do there is tour. well, you can look for work while touring Hongkong, but eventually you will need a work visa when you do start working. perhaps your employer will help facilitate your working visa. but instead of going to hongkong as tourist just to look for work, why not look for job openings in HK in the internet? i have friends who tried looking for a job while they were on a tourist visa and they landed on nothing. Those who looked for jobs on the internet were more successful.
Is that possible?

Your question does not make sense. anyway, you need to check with the chinese embassy about the appropriate visa to visit mainland China.

US passport holders must have the Chinese visa,in your case a multiple entry,for travel to Mainland China,you will not be issued a visa at LoWu border crossing . Chinese visa office in Hong Kong: Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of The PRC. 5th Floor, Lower Block, 26 Harbor Road, Wanchai, Hong Kong. Tel: 25851657, OR, 25851680, 25851794 Note: 1) You need to go there Monday to Friday during business hours. 2) "Within One working day" means: the visa should be processed within 24 hours "Fast Process" means: the visa should be processed the same day. Requirements to obtain a Visa in Hong Kong A. 1 recent passport photo. B. Passport which needs to be valid at least more than 3 months. C. Call the office before your visit. A China Tourist and Business (F) Visa can be obtained easily in Hong Kong. It can be obtained with the help of a travel agent but at least 3 full working days should be allowed for this procedure. Obtain visa at CITS (H.K.) Requirements A. One recent passport photo B. Passport, which needs to be valid at least more than 3 months and have a full empty page inside passport. C. You only need a Visit/tourist VISA. There is a multiple entry VISA that is valid for 1 or 2 years, and you can enter China for multiple times. As long as you don't need to overstay, and you are not planning to work in China. This should be good for you.
