How does dual citizenship for Hong Kong and US work

How does dual citizenship for Hong Kong and US work?
Okay so theoretically, say if I were born in China and had a Chinese passport, but then got a Hong Kong passport and gave up the Chinese passport, and then had a green card for the US and then now have a US passport, do I still hold dual citizenship for both HK and the US?

Hong Kong is not a country.........but a special administrative region within China, therefore it isn't technically dual citizenship.China also doesn't recognize dual citizenship therefore you are technically only a citizen of one country when you are in either.Under no circumstance should you allow the Chinese government know you have US citizenship or it could cause you quite a few issues. You could technically seek out your Hong Kong permanent residency if you desire to do so without issue on the US side.

hk government allow dual passport as long as you keep having your citizenship registered as hong kong sar / chinese with them
