i am living and working in hong kong and want to move right to the uk. do i have to go home to australia to apply for a uk visa or can i get it sorted out here?

You should be able to do it in the country you're living in. You got an address and everything, so that should be fine. And they do have an UK Embassy or Consulate in Hong Kong. Australia has nothing to do with your application for a visa.

If you are legally resident in HK, you can apply from there. I applied for my UK visa while I was living and working in Denmark
