Anything is possible, but you are aware that our economic hardship is effecting the rest of the world. It is a global recession. Jobs in some fields are scarce everywhere. Figure out what you want to do. See if there is a job market for that particular trade. If so, get training and go for it. Learning the language would be a requirement I'm sure.

This is the dilemma that I faced a couple of years ago. I came to the conclusion that HK will eat you alive if you don't have enough money. I decided to get a degree first. That's why I'm not there now.

well,i think it depends on what kinds of work you wanna get? There are different kinds of level jobs, seldom foreigner especially white guys would do the cheap jobs such as like seller, taxi driver etc,but i think it's not so hard for them to get a job here as long as u r a native speaker,u could work as a English teacher, that's the very popular job for foreigners, and some school or teaching associations would love to hire foreigners to teach students. Why not Guangzhou, there would be more job opportunites, and there are a lot foreign trade company, coz i am here now.Good luck.

it's obvious you didn't take into consideration those people who have "real qualification" and would love to work in HK too... there is no way you can compete with them...
